Vijay Kumar & Co. (Jute) Pvt. Ltd., was incorporated in 1940 under the name of Vulubhdass Kalyanjee & Co. Ltd. The name of the Company was changed to its present name in 1975.

Since its incorporation, the Company has been engaged in the business of trading in manufactured jute products. Its business activities have changed over the years with the changes that have occurred in the jute goods market over the last 55 years.

Prior to its incorporation the Company was a partnership firm since the early 1920s. Over the years, the Company has grown to its present stature as one of the largest and most reputated merchant supplier and exporter of jute products. Today it has a turnover of about Indian Rupees 600 million annually and it is probably the single largest supplier of jute  bags to the sugar industry in India.

Earlier it was also a large supplier to the cement industry when that industry used jute bags. It was represented in South India by reputated organization, Binny Ltd. Agencies Division from 1961 to 1989. Thereafter, Binny Ltd. as a company went into decline and stopped its trading activities.

Today, this company has its own office in Chennai. It has well established representative offices in Mumbai, New Delhi, Bilimora and Branch Office in Baroda to cater the needs of its consumers in different parts of the country.

A part from the sugar industry, the Company is a reliable supplier of jute products to the textile, paper, dairy, soda ash and other industries who require jute products for packaging of their products. It has started export promotion in a serious way since the last few years and already achieved a turn over of Rs. 10 million annually.

The Company is managed by a Board of Directors consisting of Vijay Shroff, Gita Shroff, Narendra Thakker and Hrishikesh Shroff and an able staff of about 25 people who are well versed in the intricacies of the trade. The Company's weekly Market Reports are in great demand by all consumers as well as Government and organizations associated with the jute industry. The Company enjoys a very high reputation in both the jute goods market in Calcutta as well as among its consumers for its business integrity.
